Empowering people, connecting communities

We believe in mobilizing our people, expertise, resources, and community to tackle some of society’s most pressing humanitarian challenges.

Our focus is on harnessing connection and information to inspire civic engagement and support resiliency in areas affected by disasters and displacement.

Since 2010, the Tripadvisor Foundation has invested more than $44 million in communities around the world.

Our employees in action

The TripGives mission is to inspire and enable our employees to be active global citizens by supporting the causes they care about in communities around the world.

TripGives provides individuals with the tools needed to become civically engaged and forges connections between dispersed global teams through giving back.

With TripGives, employees participate in learning activities to grow their awareness of pressing social issues and participate in meaningful activities that support organizations and individuals working on the front lines.

We believe that impactful initiatives can come from anywhere, and partner with our Employee Resource Groups and other internal teams to galvanize support for social causes and lead internal campaigns to Give, Serve, and Learn.

Give

The Tripadvisor Foundation matches employees’ personal donations to eligible nonprofit organizations around the world, dollar for dollar, up to $5,000* per employee annually. Throughout the year, there are many incentives offered to encourage and amplify giving, such as double-match campaigns and rewards for employees to give to eligible organizations.

Serve

Employees at Tripadvisor are encouraged to volunteer in their local communities and virtually. For every volunteer hour they track, they receive $15* (up to $1,000* per year) to give to the organization(s) of their choice.

Our Employee Resource Groups also lead many volunteer initiatives throughout the year for our employees to rally around social causes.

Easing the path for displaced people and those impacted by disaster

“The Tripadvisor Foundation has consistently been among the first IRC partners to respond to crises and take a public stand for refugees and displaced communities — inspiring and encouraging the private sector to step up with the bold leadership and strong commitments needed to match the global scale of this humanitarian crisis.”

-Senka Filipovic, Senior Officer, IRC Corporate Partnerships

Addressing the displacement crisis

In 2015, we watched frightened children and families climb out of makeshift boats onto the beaches in Europe; the same beaches that house the hotels, rentals, restaurants, and attractions that you find on Tripadvisor. We knew immediately that we could not turn our backs and made a commitment to address the global displacement crisis.

Since then, the numbers have continued to rise. According to the UNHCR, more than 100 million individuals are displaced due to war or persecution. These individuals are people: children, families, doctors, lawyers, teachers, and business owners.

As part of our commitment, the Tripadvisor Foundation has donated over $14 million dollars and forged close partnerships with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), World Central Kitchen (WCK), and Mercy Corps, among other leading organizations. We make it a priority to engage our employees and the wider travel community to support and welcome those who have been displaced.
